My Relationship With Clothes

"I'm nicer when I like my outfit". Traduzindo, sou mais simpática quando gosto do meu outfit, é uma frase que vi algures (muito provavelmente numa descrição de alguma foto no instagram) e que me fez pensar. Realmente, a roupa pode-nos influenciar imenso. Não estou a dizer que seja menos ou mais simpática por causa disso, mas posso, sem dúvida, estar mais confiante e, claro, que isso afecta sempre o nosso mood. É engraçado como a roupa é muito mais do que roupa para nós. Além de ter este "poder" de alterar o nosso estado de espírito, também há imensas peças que não usamos há anos, mas que guardamos, porque não nos conseguimos livrar delas. Talvez porque achamos que as vamos usar outra vez (spoiler: raramente acontece) ou porque têm um valor sentimental. Isso acontece-me imenso em peças de roupa que compro em viagens, posso já não as usar há anos, mas fazem-me sempre lembrar essa viagem e, por isso, acabo sempre por as guardar. É uma relação engraçada que temos com a roupa e às vezes nem nos apercebemos que tem um papel tão importante para nós, mas desde que seja uma relação saudável, está tudo bem! 

"I'm nicer when I like my outfit". I saw this quote somewhere (probably in a caption of a instagram photo) and it made me think. Clothes can really influence us a lot. I'm not saying that I'm nicer because of that, but I can definitely feel more confident and that is something that always affects our mood. It's funny how clothes can be way more than clothes to us. Besides having this "power" of changing our mood, there are also certain pieces of clothing that we don't wear in ages, but that we keep anyway, because we can get rid of them. Maybe because we think we're going to wear them again (spoiler: usually never happens) or because they have an emotional value to us. That happens a lot to me with clothes that I bought on trips that I did, I can be ages without wearing the piece, but it always reminds me of that trip and so I always keep it. It's a funny relationship that we have with clothes and sometimes we don't even realize how important it is to us, but as long it's a healthy relationship it's all good!
