Olá novamente. Eu sei que tenho andado um pouco desaparecida por aqui, mas não me tenho sentido muito inspirada para escrever e sou super a favor de qualidade em vez de quantidade. Mas, como podem ver, esta semana estou de volta com os favoritos do mês. Tenho adorado criar estas listas, faz-me olhar para o meu mês e perceber aquilo que mais gostei. Portanto, aqui está o segundo post do 'On My Favourites List'. Espero que gostem e partilhem comigo o que vos tem captado a atenção nos últimos tempos.

Hello everyone, long time no see. I know I've been quite MIA over here but I haven't felt very inspired to write and I'm a big believer in quality over quantity. But this week I'm back with the favourites of the month. I'm loving putting these lists together, it really makes me look over my month and see what I enjoyed the most. So here is the second post of 'On My Favourites List'. I hope you enjoy it and let me know what are you into right now.

Palmirita Vintage Store

Encontrei esta loja no TikTok (na verdade, a Marta encontrou) e, depois de a visitar, passou a ser uma das minhas favoritas no Porto. A seleção de roupas e acessórios é incrível e a dona da loja é um amor. Super que recomendo se estiverem pelo Porto.

I found this store on TikTok (actually Marta did) and, after visiting it, it's already one of my favourites in Porto. The clothes and accessories selection is amazing and the owner is the sweetest. I highly recommend it if you're in town.

Laura Borba's TikTok account

E ainda falando sobre a loja Palmirita: foi no TikTok da Laura que a vi pela primeira vez e tenho adorado o conteúdo dela (thank you TikTok's for you page). Além de partilhar lojas em segunda-mão pelo Porto, também partilha sempre os mercados vintage que vão decorrer em cada fim-de-semana.

And still about Palmirita: it was on Laura's TikTok page that I first saw it and I'm loving her content (thank you TikTok's for you page). Besides sharing lots of vintage stores in Porto, she also shares all the vintage markets that are going to happen each weekend.

Quórum Político quiz

As eleições estão mesmo aí à porta e, mais do que nunca, temos de sair das nossas casas e votar. Confesso que estava com algumas dúvidas e este quiz, feito por um amigo meu, ajudou-me bastante. Claro que não existe uma fórmula mágica para determinar qual o partido com o qual mais nos identificamos, mas é mais uma ferramenta que pode ajudar.

This one is for my Portuguese readers but a friend of mine created this quiz that can help you find which party you relate to the most. I think it's an amazing idea and I found it very helpful.

Idles' new album

Parece que os Idles são um tema recorrente nestes posts, mas, como vos disse no mês passado, eles lançaram um novo álbum, TANGK, e adorei. Mal posso esperar por os ver ao vivo amanhã, estou super entusiasmada! Eles têm mais algumas datas pela Europa se tiverem interesse em ver.

I feel like Idles are a recurring theme in this post, but like I told you the previous month, they launched a new album, TANGK, and I really love it. I can't wait to see them live tomorrow, so excited. They are touring all over Europe for the next couple of months so just check the dates and maybe you can catch them in your city.

Térmita book store

E, por último, uma livraria que descobri por acaso no Porto. Chama-se Térmita e fica mesmo ao lado do Candelabro. Adorei a vibe. Foca-se mais em poesia, mas podem encontrar de tudo um pouco, e, no fundo, tem ainda uma galeria de arte. É mesmo o tipo de espaços que eu gosto de frequentar.

And, last but not least, a bookstore I found randomly in Porto. It's called Térmita and is right next to Candelabro (a very famous bar in town). I loved the vibe. It focuses on poetry but you can find a bit of everything and, at the end, it has an art gallery. It really is the kind of place I like going to.

Não imaginam o quanto eu queria ler o Almond da Sohn Won-Pyung. Li reviews muito boas e estava super curiosa. O livro conta a histório de Yunjae: um rapaz que nasceu com um problema no cérebro que não lhe permite sentir emoções. Ele era, por diversas vezes, nomeado de "monstro" e sempre posto à parte devido a esta sua incapacidade de sentir emoções. Desde felicidade a medo, ele simplesmente não sentia nada. Este plot cativou-me muito, pois é super diferente daquilo que eu costumo ler e daquilo que se escreve na nossa cultura. A história pareceu-me muito refrescante. Outra coisa que adorei neste livro foi os capítulos curtos. É algo que eu valorizo imenso quanto leio um livro e esta característica tornou-o bastante fácil e rápido de ler. Pontos extra por isso. Agora, o que não gostei tanto: enquanto a primeira metade do livro foi perfeita, na minha opinião, a segunda parte já me pareceu muito rebuscada e acelerada de mais. Incluindo o fim. Não adorei. Deixou-me a querer mais. E, enquanto isto pode, por vezes, ser bom, neste livro não foi o caso. Deixou-me com a sensação de que faltava algo. Talvez as minhas expectativas estivessem demasiado altas. Mas, resumindo, foi um livro de que gostei e que recomendo se estiverem à procura de uma história diferente do normal.

You can't imagine how much I've been wanting to read Almond by Sohn Won-Pyung. I read some pretty good reviews and was very curious about it. It tells the story of Yunjae: a boy who was born with a brain condition that makes it hard for him to feel emotions, from happiness to fear, he couldn't feel anything. He was often labelled as a "monster" and got outcasted among his friends for his inability to feel anything. This plot really caught my attention. It's so different from what I usually read and from what's written here in the Western culture that I found this story very refreshing. Another thing that I loved was the short chapters. This is something that I always love when reading a book and this made it very fast-paced and quick to read. Extra points from that. Now into what I didn't like that much: while the first part of the book is pretty much perfect, the second part seems very rushed. Including the ending. It left me wanting more, and while that can be sometimes a good thing, here it felt like it was missing something. Maybe my expectations were very high for this book. Overall, I enjoy it and would recommend it if you're looking for a story different from usual.
