Passo a explicar.

Do you know that feeling, when you were a kid when you didn't want to show up alone at school? You don't want to be the first one to arrive because then you have to be alone waiting for everyone else, or that feeling when you know your group of friends is not going to show up and you don't really know what to do with yourself. I just realize that that feeling keeps chasing up all our life. It can even fade away, but it's always there saying hello to us. Let me explain. I love to spend time on my own, in my own company, and spending time with myself, but when the activity involves a large group of people or something more social, I hate to go alone. Events are the perfect example of that. I can go, easily, to a store by myself, but to go to that same store alone for an event, I can't even think about it. And I think, actually, I'm sure, that a lot of us are like this. How many times have you had dinner or a big party and decided to meet before with your friends somewhere else so you just don't show up alone? What's the big problem with showing up alone? None! But deep down we are always taken to those school days. Our inner child is always with us, and here's proof of that.

I wanted to post this yesterday with photos from last week, but better late than never, right? I've been really enjoying Autumn. It's my favourite season ever, and I've been trying to do everything I love. From watching the rain at a café to eating chestnuts in the streets. I hope you like the photos.

Far away are the days when I used to watch the news on Tv or actually read the newspaper. I swear I used to watch the news every day, I even used to do it in the morning while I drank my coffee. I always made sure I was informed, but noways, when I go through a news channel I immediately have to switch it. For the best of my mental health. I feel like everything is so heavy and maybe I'm very dumb for doing this but between watching an hour of news about what's going on in the world or a few minutes of content chosen for me on TikTok, I choose the latter. Deep down, some of the things that are going on on the news, we are feeling it ourselves so after a day of work, maybe watching a few TikToks or vlogs on Youtube, it's exactly what I need. To shut off from the real world and go to a world of pretty outfits and cute dogs (my algorithm in a nutshell ladies and gentlemen). But I can't help but notice this difference in me. Am I such a different person or did the world just change completely? Do I pay more attention to my mental health and what makes me good, or did the world just become super heavy? I feel like it's a little bit of both and I'm not saying that what I do is the right thing, but it's the right thing for me right now. I'm just talking and letting it all out. But let me know, do you feel the same way? I would love to know that I'm not alone on this.

Portugal Fashion week has come to an end. It has been a while since the last time I attended, I was checking the blog's archive and the last time I went was in 2018, because, as I already shared with you, fashion events are not really my thing. But, this time, I had a different experience because I was there working and I loved it. Of course, I also managed to go to some shows of my favourite designers, but I really loved being backstage. These photos are from Carolina Sobral's backstage, all taken by the amazing Ana Alves. I hope you like them.

Just kidding, obviamente, é okay também.

I think we all already realized that being busy, always working and with million things to do is not something we should romanticize, right? But I think my generation (and the youngest generations as well), just can't help it. It's a sign of the times and I am living proof of that. We just can't stand still and do nothing, boredom is a word that is not in our dictionary (or let's say, auto-correct because who uses dictionaries anyway?). As I've told you in this post before, I love being alone at home doing my things and if I don't have at least one of those days in my week, I start being really annoyed. But if I start having too many of those days, I start being really itchy as well. I live on this fine line between loving being busy and needing to shut off. There's a song by a Portuguese artist where he says "because I'm at rest where I'm not" and I feel like that is me in a nutshell. I want to have lots of things to do and projects to be part of. I love to feel productive, it's a great feeling to be working on my goals and constantly working on something important to me. But if I start seeing my monthly planner way too full with no relaxing days in between where I can just be a piece of shit, I start to freak out. I guess I just have a love/hate relationship with business and I think it's totally okay. We shouldn't romanticize it, but if we enjoy it I think it's okay. If you don't, it's also okay. And if you're like me and you're just there in the middle, then you're just weird. Just kidding, obviously, it's also okay.

Deixem-me explicar. Tudo certo. Uma mulher confiante e feroz? É uma cabra. Literalmente, isto acontece no livro. Taylor Jenkinds Reid is back? E melhor do que nunca.

If I was a fan of Taylor Jenkins Reid, now I'm even more of a fan after reading this book. The book I'm talking about is 'Carrie Soto is Back' and yeah, it's as good as everyone says. The book focuses on Carrie Soto, one of the best tennis players in the world, which has everything for us to hate her but, as the writer always does so well, she's a character who finds a smart and unique way to charm us. Let me explain. Carrie Soto is a fierce, powerful woman, and her determination to win at all costs has not made her very popular in the public eye. This is something that happens all the time in the real world, not just in books, unfortunately. A fierce, powerful man? Totally okay! A strong, determined woman? She's called a bitch. Literally, this happens in the book. But let's get back to the story. At 37, after six years of retirement and right when her records are about to be taken away from her, Carrie Soto decides to be coached by her father for one last year in an attempt to reclaim her record. I'm not even a tennis fan, but each chapter of this book makes you feel like you're in those big tennis matches which is very exciting. You just can't put it down. Each time you are reading it, you want to know how Carrie is doing in each match and you are genuinely rooting for her. If you read something by Taylor Jenkins Reids before, you will find characters from other books here which I thought was an amazing little detail. Taylor Jenkins Reid is back! And better than ever.

"We live in a world where exceptional women have to sit around waiting for mediocre men."

One of these days, while I was walking alone around town, I realized how my personality changes according to the environment and who I'm with. Does this also happen to you? I say this because if I compare myself walking alone to walking with other people I feel a huge difference, and I only realized that that day (I'm telling you, all the topics for my posts come to me on a bath or if I'm strolling around). If just like that day, I'm walking alone, I'm with the badass bitch mode activated. I'm probably with my phones on, with a super straight face, and walking really fast. I don't want to be bothered (we all know how men can be when they see a woman alone, but that's a topic for a whole other post) and I think I ended up creating that mechanism defence. On the other hand, let's say I'm walking with my boyfriend or with some friends, I look like someone else. I'm way more relaxed, lighter even. You can even find me laughing sometimes (I know you never see me doing that in photos, but I swear I smile/laugh a lot in my life). The same happens if I'm in an envoirment where I know and I'm comfortable with all people or if I'm in a completely new envoirment meeting people for the first time. I'm a completely different person. And I can't help but wonder: which one of these personalities is my real personality? When I'm alone or with someone else? Or neither of them? I feel like I'm both, even a mix of them, but is it something that also happens to you? I mean, if Fernando Pessoa could have his different heteronymous, I can also have my personalities, right?

Wow, I feel like it has been a lifetime since I last wrote a blog post about books. I think during Summer I read way less, and I even had to give up on some books I was reading, so I'm not going to write about those obviously. But I'm back and I have some reviews to share with you already. Let's start with 'The Five Sisters' by Cinzia Giorgio (I'm not sure if it's translated already). The book was a gift so I didn't have many expectations, but I quite like it. It's not a super deep and interesting story, but it was exactly what I needed to pick up on my reading habits. To people who like fashion, this can be quite an interesting book since it tells the story of the Fendi family who, as you can imagine, created the brand with the same name. But it's also a story about the friendship, between Adele Casagrande and Maddalene Splendori. The first one actually existed and she's the one who, together with her husband Edoardo Fendi, created the Fendi brand. The second one balances reality and fiction. The book goes through 90 years of story, including the days when Karl Lagerfeld was the creative director of Fendi. Despite that, what I enjoyed the most was realizing how important women were to this brand (from Adele to her five daughters). The book lives between fiction and reality which sometimes can be quite confusing. Obviously, the story being told was real, but not all the characters are which ends up being quite a bit messy. But it was an easy and pleasant read.
