I know today's post is coming a little later than usual, but I really wanted to share my monthly playlist before starting to share with you the content I created in Lisbon. I think this playlist is amazing and has songs from all music genres. I loved Lana Del Rey's new songs (I don't know how she managed to create two different bodies of work in such a short period of time), Maneskin couldn't be left out, and I also listened to a few old songs by Beyoncé, but as you know, you can listen to everything on the playlist down below.

The week is coming to an end, so I decided to do another 'my week through my phone'. I spent some days in the countryside, and it's a place that inspires me a lot and really makes me want to shoot. Today I'm going to a completely different place. I'm going to Lisbon and I can't wait to create some content over there as well (you can follow everything on Instagram). I hope you like the photos. All of them were taken at Casa do Rio, a place where you can also go, stay some day, and enjoy yourself.

When I write this posts about the books I'm reading, I usually write a bit about the story and tell my opinion about it. However, this book, Open Water by Caleb Azumah Nelson, is so perfect and so beautifully written (almost like poetry) that I decided to do something different, and share some of my favourite quotes from the book. It really is one of those books full of perfect quotes that really make you think. But well, I highly recommend it.

I couldn't help but wonder, concordam comigo?

A few days ago I started listening to a new podcast, I even shared on my Instagram, called Sentimental & The City (if you're a fan of Sex & The City and Dolly Alderton, you have to listen to it) and it made me wonder how characters change when we rewatch certain TV shows, and Sex & The City is the perfect example. I don't remember how old I was the first time I watched it, but I would say I was around 18/19 years. At the time, Carrie definitely was my favourite character. I think we all wanted to be a Carrie at some point, right? Fabulous wardrobe, the perfect house in an amazing city, and a dream job. But I watched it again last year, and with 24 I can understand how problematic this character is. Constantly looking for validation, most times a very bad friend, and never learns from her mistakes. In my 24 years, I can say that Miranda, the one I found the most boring the first time I watched it, is my favourite character and the one I relate to the most. She's a feminist, a little bit sarcastic, and a badass who's not afraid to speak her truth. If Sex & The City was made today, I'm pretty sure Miranda would be the main character, don't you think? It's amazing how we can have such different perspectives throughout the years. I couldn't help but wonder, do you agree with me?

Aqui fica a minha lista.

If you're like me, you're always watching foreign TV shows. The truth is that there are loads of them, and they're really easy to watch, but, lately, I've been watching a lot of Portuguese TV shows and I always make sure I'm watching one. So I decided to share with you my favourite Portuguese TV Shows. These are series that I really enjoyed and that are available online for free. I'm not sure if they have subtitles, but you can always try to find it online. So here's my list.

Filhos do Rock

Watch: HERE

I watched this TV show a few years ago, but during the last lockdown, I watched it again. It really is one of my favourites ever. Basically, tells the story of a Portuguese rock band formed in the 80s, a time when rock was exploding in Portugal.

Frágil

Watch: HERE

Frágil is a very short series. It has only 6 episodes and they're all in the same Summer, but you really have to watch it. Follows the life of three friends in their 20s who live in a small apartment in Lisbon where they share all kinds of situations.

Sara

Watch: HERE

It was the last one I watch, and it's genius. It was written by Bruno Nogueira, and if you have ever seen any of his work, you know how good it is. Sara is a satire on the Portuguese television industry. It's really good.

4Play

Watch: HERE

This one is completely different from the other ones, it's definitely to laugh. It's very light, fun, and it's filmed in Porto which I really liked. 4Play is a game that three friends are playing throughout the show, in the end, you know the winner.

I've been wanting to read 'Little Women' for the longest time and I finally asked a friend for it, and read it. I already knew the story, I watched the movie a while ago, and as a huge fan of Friends, I already knew a few spoilers (if you're also a fan, you know exactly what I mean). 'Little Women' is a novel about the March sisters, four girls who throughout the book make the passage from childhood to womanhood. It's loosely based on the author which I found very interesting. However, I'm not a fan. It's a lovely story, for sure, but it's a very simple and easy story. I'm much more into deep and strong books that make you feel all kinds of emotions, and this one just feels a bit... dull. It doesn't happen much. But I do have to say, I love Jo. She's the best character in the whole book. She's strong, she's independent, and she's a feminist (even though the book was published in 1868). I feel like, lately, I've been bashing all the classics, but this is my honest opinion, and there's nothing wrong with having a different opinion from the majority. But tell, have you read this book? I would love to know if you share my opinion.

"I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship."

"Why do Instagram influencers decide that they need to publicly take one side of every social issue?" I saw this a while ago on Sophia Molen's Instagram Stories, and it really made me think, because, like she said on her Stories, I feel like nowadays people feel a lot of pressure to show that they care about certain topics on social media. It feels like people are sharing because it's trendy and because they want to fit in. I personally don't share my opinion on everything, but social media is not real life. Just because I'm not sharing, doesn't mean I don't care. I don't have to share my opinion on social media in order to have one. Sure, I'm going to share some topics if I feel makes sense. Feminism is something that personally touches me and that I'm going to always share, such as voting since I believe it's really important for the young generations to be aware, but I don't think we have to share an opinion on everything. Actually, I don't think we have to share an opinion, period. If you want to share pretty photos only, there's nothing wrong with that, after all, there are accounts for everything. There are some accounts I follow to see pretty photos and nice outfits, other accounts I follow to be informed and know about what's going on in the world, I don't need these two to mix up together. Let's stop with this pressure to be social media activists, and just share what we feel like sharing. Let me know your thoughts on this, I would love to know if you agree with me or if you have a completely different opinion.

A while ago, I watched a video by Lizzy Hadfield (forever girl crush) where she talked about walking and how this activity has a major impact on her life (you can watch the video HERE). It may sound like an irrelevant topic, but if you really think about it, walking might be what saved us during the lockdown. I know it saved me. Being locked in our houses, and only being able to leave to walk or exercise, those minutes outside really helped to maintain our mental health. And even now that we have a bit more freedom, I still walk a lot and love those moments. I live in a relatively small town, so I can walk everywhere, and I really love that time with myself. Just me, my thoughts (sometimes it's when I get ideas for blog posts), and my music.

I've created a playlist to listen to when I'm walking, and I'm going to leave it here so you can also listen to it when you're walking. These are upbeat songs that help get your rhythm. I hope you like it.

As you already know, I'm a huge fan of José Saramago, and like I did in this post about Murakami's books, I thought it would be interesting to do the same and share the books you should start with if you want to delve into Saramago's books. I'm far from reading all his work, but I already have my favourites and can tell you the ones you really shouldn't miss. So here are three books to read if you want to read Saramago.

It was the latest book I read by the author, and it's amazing. The main character is a middle-aged man who works at the civil registry office that it's trying to find a woman he knows nothing about, only having her file. The story is very captivating but the end, just like all the books I mention, is mindblowing.

Greenwashing.

Greenwashing. I came across this word, and I found it very interesting because I really believe it's something we're all suffering from. We see certain marketing campaigns, we watch some documentaries, and we believe all of that is true, but most of the times they're just making us believe it is. Being environment-friendly is so trendy right now (and I'm really glad it is), that we just believe anything. We're constantly being brainwashed (or greenwashed in this case). A perfect example of that is the "sustainable" collections of major fast-fashion brands. Okay, they may use less water producing it or use organic fabrics, but if it's still going into mass production, there's no way you can call that sustainable. We almost feel less guilty with our purchase if we buy from that collection (and I've been that person in the past), but second-hand or vintage will always be more sustainable. Don't believe in misleading marketing campaigns, and always do your research on the topics you're interested in, there's the only way we can all be more environmental-friendly and live a more sustainable life.

I've been loving to take photos with my phone, and this week I took so many that I decided to share them here as well. They show pretty much how my week went, so it almost works as a little weekly photodiary. If you're into this idea, I can start doing this more often. Let me know in the comments.

One of my favourite coffee shops here in Porto, Época.

I don't know if you follow Inês de Ayala on Instagram (you should though), but a few days ago she shared on Instagram Stories a story with which I identified a lot since it happened something similar to me a few days ago. In those Stories, she told how some brands/agencies ask us to do some kind of work and in return we get....nothing. Sound ridiculous, right? But it happens more than what we wish for. A few days ago, it happened to me, and obviously, I refused the "proposal" because I know my value. My camera costed money, my audience and aesthetic took time to build, and I'm not giving that away and getting shampoo or any other kind of product in return. Creating content is a job, and it has to be paid accordingly. I know that for a few people it looks like we only have to be pretty and take some photos, but it's a lot of work, and in the end, we all have bills to pay. The day I can pay my rent with products we can talk again, but I don't see that happening in the near future. Looks like this job is not taken seriously, after all, no one would ask a teacher to teach a class and not pay him anything, but us influencers/content creators get this kind of proposals weekly. This has to stop. Either you have 4k or 50k followers, you have to know your value and fight for your rights. Always. In the end, if a brand doesn't recognize your value, it's not a brand you want to work with, right?

Remember me telling you on THIS post that I wanted to read 'Women' by Charles Bukowski? Well, one of these days I went to a book store and decided to buy it. It's a semiautobiographical novel and follows the life of Henri Chinaski, a writer who lives his life at a very face pace between sexual encounters with women and epic hangovers. I don't think I have ever received so many replies on a book when I posted it on Instagram, but in general, no one really liked this book, but I have a different kind of opinion. It's a book that it's going to offend you (or so I hope). It's also painfully repetitive. The whole book is basically sex, drink, sex, horse races and more sex. The way the main character treats women is also very hard to read. It was what you all said on my Instagram, and I totally agree with it. However, even though I found the book very repetitive, disturbing and even disgusting sometimes, I have to say that I found it very entertaining. I think the human being has a twisted desire for things that are wrong, and I think it was what happened with me and this book. I didn't like the story, but I now have a love/hate relationship with Bukowski.
