Last month, I didn't share my monthly playlist because I essentially listened to Christmas songs all month, but January is almost coming to an end and, this month, I finally built a playlist for me and also for you obviously. So this is what I've been listening to. Noga Erez was one of the best finds that one of you shared with me in one of these posts (thanks Bea), and since then I'm a huge fan. She launched a new album with some live songs, and it's amazing. Marina (I had to mention her) also launched a deluxe version of her latest album with some new songs, and I also really liked that. But, as always, you can listen to everything down below.

I got this book for Christmas and, even though I've never heard anything about it, I decided to give it a go. It's called Daughters of a New Time (I couldn't find an English translation) and it tells the story of four women who live in the city of Hamburg. It happens between the end of the First World War and follows the lives of these women until the end of the Second World War. Together they follow the transformation of the world but also the terrible arrival of the nazi occupation and the end of their freedom. To be honest with you, I'm not a huge fan of reading about this topic. I obviously think that we should know the history and understand the horrible things millions of people went through, but reading is something I do to relax and forget about the world for a while so sometimes it's a bit hard for me to read about this time in history. I also found the book a bit hard to keep up in the beginning, there were too many characters to familiarize with. But, with that being said, the book is the first part of a trilogy and I'm very curious to read the other two. It definitely is a captivating story.

Sinto-me muito eu. If you know, you know.

I have already told you, but I haven't shown you yet. But it's true, I got myself some bangs. I've wanted to do them for the longest time, but I was very afraid of how it would turn out. The new year was the perfect excuse, and I loved it. I think it's one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I feel very me. However, these last couple of weeks with bangs already told me some things, it's not easy to maintain a fringe. So I decided to write this post, five things only people with bangs will understand. If you know, you know.

1. Headbands Are Your Best Friends

Vais fazer a tua skincare routine?

You don't wear them outside, but when you're chilling at home, headbands are your best friends. Are you going to take a shower? You need a headband. Are you going to do your skincare routine? You need a headband. Are you simply just watching Netflix? You need a headband. Bangs can be very annoying, but the headband will always be there for you.

2. There's No Such Thing As Beadhead

There's something very sexy about a bead-head, you know when you just woke up and your hair still looks kind of messy. Well, if you have bangs, you will never have this again. There's nothing sexy about morning fringes.

3. Windy Days Are Your Worst Nightmare

Oh, windy days... such a nightmare. I actually live in a very windy city so it's not ideal, I have come to the fact that my bangs will never look cute while I'm walking down the street. You just have to surrender and accept it.

4. You Find Mirrors On Every Surface Just To Check On Your Fringe

Women usually do this anyway but when you got a fringe, you find mirrors on every surface just to check on your fringe and fix it (there's always a little touch happening). And if it's a windy day just like I said before, you do this all the time.

5. You Feel Like Jane Birkin 24/7

Bangs can be quite annoying and very high-maintenance but damn, they are cool . They are totally worth it. You just feel like Jane Birkin all the time, even if you don't resemble her at all. This is your sign to go get some bangs right now.

You can't imagine how happy it makes me when you tell me you like my analogue photos or that this post is one of your favourites. Well, let me tell you that it's also one of my favourites to get ready for you. So here are my latest analogue photos, some taken last year, some taken already this year. I hope you like them!

E o final...tragam-me o terceiro volume!

When I shared I was reading 'My Brilliant Friend' (you can read my review here), some of you told me I would want to read the rest of the collection, and you were totally right. Today I'm going to share with you what I thought about 'The Story of a New Name', the second part of the tetralogy of the Neapolitan series by Elena Ferrante. This second novel continues the story of Lila and Elena, but now they are young adults. Lila is recently married and joins the family business, while Elena continues her studies and her exploration of the world outside the neighbourhood. Saying just this does not make justice to this story but I can't say much more without giving some spoilers, and I don't really want to ruin it for you. But if I liked the first book, this one I totally loved. I feel like this one it's even more entrancing than the first one. It was really hard to put down. And the ending...bring me the third one!

Vou ser bastante honesta, o título inicial deste post era "January, I Hate You". É, provavelmente, o pior mês do ano.

I'm going to be really honest with you, the first title of this post was "January, I Hate You". It's probably the worst month of the year. It's super long, the weather sucks and all the Christmas spirit just goes to shit. I mean, there's something called the January Blues for a reason. But a few years ago, I wrote a blog post with 3 Tips To Beat The January Blues (I'm not going to link the post because I don't recognize the 21-year-old me anymore but you can always find it) and I decided to follow one of my advice. One of my tips was to get a haircut, and that's what I did. You still can't see it on these photos but let me tell you, it kinda worked. I was feeling so low and so down on inspiration, and this haircut just made me feel great again. I know it sounds crazy but 21 year old me was actually pretty smart. So, January, I tolerate you. I still don't love you and I don't think I will ever do, but I think we can at least be friends. It's not me, it's you. I know it is usually the opposite of what people say, but in this case, it's really you.

We start this week with photos from last week, the first week of the year. I think it's a very weird week for everyone. After all the festivities and such highs, we go back to our routines, and all the gatherings and Christmassy spirit just go away. However, I tried to make the most out of it and did some of my favourite things, you can see some of them in these photos. Photos I took with my phone with no purpose at all. I hope you like them.

Went to one of the oldest cafés in town, Guarany.

If you've been following me for a while, you know that I'm a huge fan of Murakami, so, even though I still have loads of books by him to read, when I found out that he launched a new book, I bought it immediately. 'First Person Singular' is the name of the book, and it's a collection of eight short stories that go from critics of unknown jazz albums to monkeys that work as masseuses on some boiling springs. To be straight to the point, I didn't like it. As Murakami always does, these are very unrealistic stories and, to me, these stories that he usually tells need their time. They need to develop and grow throughout the book, however, since these are short stories, they very quickly become absurd, and I really didn't like that. It's a book, that against all the others, didn't make me lost in the Murakami world, it just made me think "what the hell is going on" all the time. If you're looking for some books to start reading Murakami, check this post I wrote, I think all the books I mention are way better than this one.

The other day, while scrolling on Instagram, I came across a post by Zahra (an influencer I follow that I really like) where she shared her happiness to be working with a very huge international brand. I really liked her post, because it's not every day you see an influencer on social media sharing her achievements with her followers, and I really think we should do it more often. I say this because it happened to me recently as well. I was so happy to be working with Rouje, a brand that I love and follow since its beginning. When I received their proposal and after their package, I was happier than a kid on Christmas' day. Just like Zahra said in her post, I know it doesn't seem like a big deal to a lot of people but it's definitely a big deal for me. Who started as an influencer/Instagrammer recently might have started because they wanted to get free clothes or any other kind of product, but who started a long time ago just like me, had no idea it would be possible to receive free clothes from brands we respect so much. It's very gratifying to see your work recognized by a brand you love and identify with so much. I'm proud of myself. And we have to say this to ourselves more often.
