Se são pessoas que passam algum tempo nas redes sociais, então tenho a certeza que já ouviram falar deste livro. Já tinha lido reviews tão boas do 'Os Sete Maridos de Evelyn Hugo' que tive de o comprar para perceber o hype. Realmente é um livro do qual gostei bastante. A história é simples e de fácil leitura. Não é nada de muito profundo, mas é um livro que nos agarra desde a primeira página. Basicamente conta a história de Evelyn Hugo, uma famosa atriz de Hollywood e, como podem adivinhar pelo título do livro, a história dos seus sete maridos. Gostei bastante da forma como o livro está escrito. Já tinha lido o 'Daisy Jones & The Six' da mesma autora e, realmente, ela tem sempre uma forma diferente de contar a história, no caso deste livro, a história é contada através de uma entrevista que a Evelyn Hugo dá a uma jornalista, a Monique. Muitas coisas são reveladas ao longo da leitura deste livro e foi mesmo o que gostei mais, a forma como nos surpreende em cada reviravolta da história. E o fim? Nem vou dizer mais nada, mesmo muito bom. Gostei imenso e agora que o calor se está a aproximar, acho que é o livro perfeito para uma leitura na praia.


If by any chance you're the kind of person who spends some time on social media, then I'm sure you already heard about this book. I've read so many good things about 'The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo' that I really had to buy it and know what was all the hype about. I really enjoyed it. It's an easy read, not super deep, but at the same time have you hooked since page number one. It basically tells the story of Evelyn Hugo, a Hollywood movie star, and, guess what, her seven husbands. I really liked the way the book is written. I already read 'Daisy Jones & The Six' by the same author and she always tells the story in a different way, in this particular book is through an interview Evelyn Hugo is giving to a journalist, Monique. A lot is revealed while you're reading this book and I think that's what I enjoyed the most about it, how you are surprised at each twist and turn. And the end? Don't even get me started. Really liked it, and since the good weather is approaching, I think this book is the perfect beach read.

Aqui está mais um conjunto de fotografias um pouco diferentes do habitual, mas, desta vez, em analógico. Tiradas pela Raquel, que conheci neste dia, mas que já há muito admirava o seu trabalho. Confesso que antes, para mim, era um pouco difícil fotografar com outras pessoas. Como control freak que sou, gosto de saber com o que contar e obter sempre o resultado que idealizei. Mas, ultimamente, tenho adorado trabalhar com outros fotógrafos. É uma arte e é sempre interessante ver o que cada um traz às fotografias. Pois não é um trabalho só meu, é uma colaboração entre duas pessoas criativas. Escusado será dizer que adorei o resultado das fotografias. Desde o outfit que estou a usar (obrigada Carolina Sobral pelo vestido mais bonito de sempre), ao sítio onde fotografamos, tudo ficou perfeito. O que vocês acham? Gostam?


Here are some photos a bit different from usual, but this time in analogue. They were shot by Raquel, who I've met this day, but I've been an admirer of her work for a very long time. I confess that shooting with other people was a bit hard for me in the past. As the control freak that I am, I like to know what I'm counting with and to always get the result I'm looking for. But lately, I've been loving to shoot with other people behind the camera. It's an art, and it's very interesting to see what each photographer brings to the table. Because it's not only my work, it's a collaboration between two creative people, and amazing things can happen if you just let go. Of course, I'm in love with these photos. From the outfit I'm wearing (thank you Carolina Sobral for the prettiest dress ever) to the place where we shot, everything turned out perfect. But what do think? Do you like these photos?


 


Eu sou a primeira a admitir que o Mercúrio Retrógrado pode ser um tempo difícil e até cheguei a escrever uma espécie de guia para estas alturas antes de se tornar um assunto tão banal e trendy. Mas estamos a chegar a um ponto em que culpamos o Mercúrio Retrógrado por tudo o que nos acontece. Tiveste uma multa? Foi Mercúrio Retrógrado. Troçaste e caíste na rua? Sem dúvida, Mercúrio Retrógrado. Esqueceste-te de pagar uma conta? Mercúrio Retrógrado mais uma vez. Quase que me apetece dizer uma frase que li uma vez algures: "A tua vida já era uma merda, não culpes o Mercúrio Retrógrado". Ganhou uma má reputação e toda a gente só fala de quão mal se sente, e de que como só coisas más lhe acontece. O que temos de perceber é que pode também ser uma altura muita boa para nós. Say what? Yeap, ninguém fala sobre isto, mas estou aqui para repor toda a verdade. Talvez não seja a melhor altura para começar algo novo, mas é a altura perfeita para dar um passo atrás (tal como Mercúrio) e refletir. Há alguma coisa que deixaste inacabada no passado? Um livro, ou um filme? Há alguém que já não vês há muito tempo? Agora é altura para revisitar tudo isso. É a melhor altura para desacelerar, refletir sobre tudo o que fizeste no passado e criar o teu plano. É por isso que é tão mal visto, hoje em dia, desacelerar é uma palavra que não está no nosso dicionário, mas temos de apreder a fazê-lo. Se não acreditas nisto, então aguenta mais um pouco, só falta mais uma semana de Mercúrio Retrógrado.

I'm the first one to admit that mercury retrograde can be a hard time, I even wrote a mercury retrograde 101 even before it became so "trendy" and such a mainstream topic. But we're getting to a time where everyone blames mercury retrograde for everything. Have you got a parking ticket? It was mercury retrograde. You fell on the street? It was mercury retrograde! You forgot to pay a bill? It was mercury retrograde. It's like a quote I saw a while ago: "Your life was already shit, don't blame it on mercury retrograde". It has gained a bad rep and everyone just talks about how bad it is, how bad they feel and how bad things keep happening. What we all have to understand is that it can actually be good and beneficial to us! Say what? Yeah, most people don't talk about this but I'm here to tell you the truth. So maybe it's not the best time to start something new, but it's a great time to step back (just like mercury) and reflect. Is there something you left unfinished in the past? Maybe a book, or a movie? Is there someone you haven't seen in a long time? Now it's the time to revisit all of that. It's the time to slow down, look back at everything you've done and come up with your master plan. That's why is considered so bad, nowadays no one wants to slow down, but we have to learn how to do it. If all of this is bullshit to you, hang in there, we only have one more week of Mercury retrograde.

Cada bairro e cada recanto tem o seu próprio encanto e é uma cidade tão divertida de fotografar. Foi também a primeira vez que usei um filme Ektar 100 e gostei imenso do resultado. Here are the analogue photos from London. Gosh, how I missed this city. It was my ninth time visiting and it's a city that never stops surprising me. Each neighbourhood has its own beauty and it's such a fun city to shoot. It was also the first time I used an Ektar 100 film and I loved the result. I hope you like the photos! Eu sei que a semana passada esteve um pouco mais parada aqui pelo blog, mas se me seguem pelo Instagram viram que voltei à minha cidade favorita, Londres. Estive lá alguns dias da semana passada e, antes de partilhar com vocês todas as fotografias analógicas (em princípio recebo-as hoje), decidi partilhar alguns dos outfits que usei por lá. I know this last week was very quiet over here, but if you follow me on Instagram you know I went back to my favourite city ever, London. Já tanto se foi dito sobre influencers. Mas hoje vou partilhar com vocês todos os segredos. Tudo o que tanto nós tentamos esconder. Claro que estou a brincar, mas achei que seria engraçado partilhar com vocês algumas curiosidades que talvez nunca vos tenham passado pela cabeça. Pequenas coisas do nosso dia-a-dia que muitas vezes passam despercebidas. Por isso, aqui estão cinco segredos que nós nunca contamos.


So much has been said about influencers. But today I'm going to share all the secrets. Everything we've been hiding from all this time. I'm kidding of course, but I thought it would be fun to share some curiosities that maybe you never thought about. Small things we do in our job that maybe you never caught. So here are five secrets we don't tell you about.




O Instagram sempre foi para mim uma fonte de inspiração. É uma ferramenta de trabalho e também um sítio onde sei que posso sempre recorrer se estiver a precisar de uma dose extra de inspiração. Mas também o Instagram tem modas e é difícil não cair nelas de vez em quando. Se no início toda a gente partilhava fotos de alta qualidade com poses super forçadas, hoje em dia o que se quer é fotografias tiradas com o telemóvel o mais natural possível. #Photodumps ou as fotos super escuras e moody são modas e que têm o like garantido. Claro que também eu adoro esse tipo de conteúdo e eu mesma o faço para partilhar com vocês, porque gosto de o criar, sei que vocês também gostam  e é do conteúdo com mais interação. Mas chega uma altura em que estamos todos a fazer o mesmo. Estamos todos a seguir as mesmas modas e, para mim, torna-se aborrecido. Daí, de vez em quando, gostar de fazer algo diferente. Ora seja brincar com a edição das fotografias, adicionar gráficos, fotografar em analógico ou tirar fotografias completamente diferentes daquilo que partilho no dia-a-dia. Mesmo que signifique que não vai ter tantos likes ou interações (que é o que normalmente acontece visto estar a "fugir"das modas que falei anteriormente) Mas é conteúdo que me deixa orgulhosa, do qual gosto imenso e quero partilhá-lo também com vocês. Posso não ter o mesmo número de interações, mas sei que a longo prazo vai compensar. Pois só assim nos conseguimos destacar numa multidão onde estão todos a fazer o mesmo.


Instagram is a source of inspiration to me. It's a tool I use to work and also a place I can always go to when I'm in need of an extra dose of inspiration. However, Instagram also has trends, and it's hard not to fall for them once in a while. If at the beggining everyone was posting high-quality photos with weird poses, nowadays everyone is posting super natural photos taken with their phones. #Photodumps or super dark and moody photos are some of those trends and this kind of content always has a bunch of likes. I also love that kind of content, and I post it often because it's something I like to create, you also like to see it, and it's content that always has the most interactions. But it gets to a point where everyone is doing the same thing. We are all following the same trends, and it gets boring to me. So, once in a while, I like to do something different. Either that being playing with edition, adding some graphics, shooting in analogue or creating photos completely different from what I usually do. Even if it means I'm not getting as many likes or interactions (what usually happens since I'm not following the trends I spoke about earlier). But it's content I'm proud of, that I truly like and I want to share it with you. I might not have the same amount of interactions, but in the long term I know it will pay off. That's the only way you can stand out in a crowd where everyone is doing the same damn thing.

Depois de tanto ouvir falar do Hygge quando estive em Copenhaga, claro que tive de trazer um livro comigo para perceber melhor este conceito dinamarquês. Trouxe comigo o famoso 'The Little Book of Hygge' e gostei mesmo muito. É um livro simples, mas que vos fazer perceber na perfeição o que é afinal isto do hygge. É um livro que nos fazer pensar a forma como vivemos a nossa vida e, por isso, aqui estão três coisas que aprendi com ele.

After hearing so much about Hygge when I was in Copenhagen, I obviously had to bring with me a book to understand this danish concept. I brought the famous 'The Little Book of Hygge', and I really enjoyed it. It's a simple book, but you totally understand what hygge is all about. It's a book that makes you think about the way you live your life and so here are five things I've learned from it.


1. Cosy Home, Happy Life

Todos queremos uma casa acolhedora, mas os dinamarqueses levam esta tarefa mesmo a sério. Desde cobertores super cosy, a velas por todo o lado, eles precisam de uma casa cosy para alcançarem o tal hygge. Comecei a acender velas mais regularmente por causa deste livro e realmente faz a diferença.

We all love a cosy home, but Danish people take it very seriously. From loads of blankets to candles everywhere, they want to feel cosy in their homes in order to feel hygge. I started lighting candles more often because of this book, and it really makes a huge difference.

2. Appreciate The Little Things

Apesar da Dinamarca ser dos países mais escuros e mais frios durante o Outono e o Inverno, também é dos países onde as pessoas são mais felizes. Estranho, mas o hygge explica muita coisa. As coisas más, como os dias de chuva e escuros, os dinamarqueses conseguem tornar em coisas positivas. É só uma questão de olhar para o lado bom e apreciar as pequenas coisas. Está um dia frio? Então é a oportunidade perfeita para experimentar uma nova receita em casa. Ou então beber um cappuccino e ler um bom livro. É tudo uma questão de perspetiva.

Even though Denmark is one of the darkest and coldest countries during Autumn and Winter, it's also one of the countries where people are the happiest. Weird, but hygge explains it all. Bad things, like rainy and cold days, become good things. It's all about looking at the positive things and appreciating the little things. Is it a super cold day? Then it's the perfect time to try a new recipe. Or drink a cappuccino and read a good book. You just need a new perspective.


3. Hygge is Meant To Be Shared with Friends

Confesso que desde que vim de Copenhaga que tenho mais vontade de estar com os meus amigos e até mesmo fazer novos amigos com quem passar um bom bocado. Isto porque os dinamarqueses passam imenso tempo com os seus amigos e é algo que se consegue sentir quando se está na cidade. Mesmo nos dias da semana, veem-se os restaurantes cheios com grupos de amigos. O hygge pode ser sentido quando se está sozinho, mas é sempre melhor se for com amigos.

I confess that since I returned from Copenhagen that I really feel like spending more time with friends and even doing new friends to spend a good time with. Danish people really spend a lot of time with friends, and it's something you really feel when you are there. Even on a weekday, restaurants are full of groups of friends. You can feel hygge alone, but it's always better to share it with friends.





 


Não sei se é a norma hoje em dia ou se simplesmente é um fator do meu trabalho, mas a maior parte dos meus amigos são amigos que conheci online. Claro que tenho amigos que trago da escola ou de outras áreas da minha vida, mas aqueles que vejo mais regularmente são amigos que conheci online. Até o meu namorado eu conheci online. É online que passámos a maior parte do tempo, por isso acho super normal ser online que encontras pessoas com as quais te identificas, com os mesmo interesses e os mesmo objetivos. Acho até bastante bonito quando uma amizade online, passa para a vida real. Como a conexão que existe online, tão facilmente passa para as nossa vidas. A Internet pode ter coisas muito más, mas esta é uma coisa que eu acho fascinante e bastante bonita. E até quando perguntam como fazer amigos quando somos mais velhos, online é uma excelente forma. Aquela rapariga que admiras no Instagram e que até vive na mesma cidade do que tu? Manda-lhe mensagem! Aquele rapaz que até lhe achas piada mas nunca tiveste a iniciativa de o contactar, manda-lhe mensagem! Eu que até era uma pessoa bastante introvertida, ultimamente tenho conhecido pessoas fantásticas através das redes sociais. Friends will be friends (para ler com a voz de Freddie Mercury)...quer os tenhas conhecido na dita vida real ou online.


I don't know if it's something normal or it's because of my work, but most of my friends I've met online. Of course, I have friends that I made in school, but the ones I see more often are friends I met online. Even my boyfriend I've met online. I really think it's something normal nowadays. We spend so much time online that it's easier to find your people on the Internet. It's easier to find people you connect with, with the same interests and goals as you. And I even think it's something very beautiful. When a friendship jumps from the little screen to real life. And it's amazing how it feels like you already know that person. How the connection you had online jumps to real life so easily. The Internet may have a bunch of bad things, but this is something I find amazing and truly touching. And even when people ask how to make friends later in life, online is the answer. That girl you admire who even lives in the same city as you? Send her a DM. That boy that you really fancy but never try to engage with him, send him a message! Even though I consider myself an introverted person, I have met amazing people lately through social media. Friends will be friends (to read with Freddie Mercury's voice in mind)... have you met them in real life or online.
