I always considered myself a very independent person. I have my own money, love my company and like to do stuff independently. But when you are in a long-term relationship, it's quite normal to feel like you're somehow dependent on the other person. I don't mean it in an unhealthy way. I don't someone else to be happy. Believe me. "I Don't Need a Man" by Pussycat Dolls was my anthem back in the day (any millennial on that side that remembers this song?). But your life partner is someone you rely on, for the good and bad. And if you think about it, we called them life partners, isn't that huge? It's someone you decided to share your life with, I think it's okay to feel like you somehow depend on them. Especially if you live together, it's someone you make plans with and it's okay to be considerate of them when making plans with other people. Is this being dependent or just being respectful of the other person? I think that, somehow, this shows a bit of dependency but I also think that is totally okay. As human beings, we rely on making connections with other people. We need that to grow and flourish. Even if you are an introvert, like I am, you also feel the need to be with other people. Isn't this need dependency? Nowadays, it's almost politically incorrect to state this. Especially, if you are a woman. If you're not an independent woman, you're not a strong woman. I know this is just a way to empower women, and I sure know we need that. But I also think there's something very powerful about facing that we need other people. Whether you're female, male, transgender, genderfluid, none or anything else in between, we depend on other people. Of course, there's a fine line between this being in healthy and unhealthy way, but then is up to each one of us to create our boundaries. But I really don't think is possible to be in a long-term relationship and be totally independent. If you respect the other person, you will always want to know their opinion and if you're in a healthy relationship both opinions will always be the same and, if they're not, that will never be a problem).
As soon as the weather gets a little bit warmer, I just feel like doing a million different things. It was exactly what happened last week, so I thought it would be a good idea to do a little recap of my week here on the blog with some photos I took with my phone (some I shared over on Stories, some I didn't). I hope you like the post, and hopefully you can even find new places in Porto.
I can't believe we're still doing Hauls nowadays. To anyone unfamiliar with the term, a haul is a kind of video where people showcase items that they recently purchased, most of which are fashion related. These kinds of videos were very popular a few years ago, they were, in fact, one of my favourites to watch. I loved seeing all the different clothes you could get at the fast-fashion stores and seeing what I would like to buy for myself. But, of course, that's not me anymore. I actually hate watching hauls. I haven't watched one in a million years (they're just not as popular and Youtubers don't do them that often), but a Youtuber that I follow made one of these days, and I decided to watch it. It made me cringe. For real. It's insane how people still lie to themselves when buying something new. "Look at these super impractical shoes or this super small bag in a super bright colour, I know I will wear them a lot". Honey, you will take a photo wearing those items once and you will never wear them again. Don't lie to yourself and your audience. And don't even get me started on the quality of the products. When you can tell through a video that the fabrics are awful, don't try to convince me that those items are going to last a lifetime, because they will not. These are clothes that just don't appeal to me anymore. When you start buying second-hand and realise how special those clothes are, the clothes from fast-fashion stores just don't seem so cool anymore. It's a very hard feeling to explain, but those items of clothes just don't speak to me. Give me a vintage haul or even a groceries haul (am I the only one who enjoys these?), but let's end with the fast-fashion haul. They are super boring.

Ficou a faltar profundidade à história.
Regarding the influencer world, I was always the kind of girl who liked to be on her own. I like to create my content and share it with you, but I barely go to events and hang out with other influencers. The truth is that I already had some bad experiences at events with other influencers and lately I've been finding some things about this industry and people in it that surprised me a lot. I'm usually the first person to defend influencers but if we have a bad reputation is for a reason. It's an industry of interests, envy and massive egos. It's ugly. And influencers are batshit crazy. I'm sorry for being so straight to the point but it's the conclusion I've made. And this was going to be today's theme, but, yesterday, after being at an event very different from all the other ones I went to, I was reflecting on the good things that this industry also has. Luckily, not all influencers are insane. And luckily, I found some of them. They can be a little bit crazy (in a good way) but they are good people. They are people with who you can create real relationships of friendship and help each other out with no interest behind. It's the beautiful side of social media that I'm very thankful for. Not everything on social media is real, and every day I realise that, but at least I have my group of people with who I can be honest and share it with you in a real and genuine way.
