Tenho adorado todas as sugestões que me têm dado!

As per usual by the end of the month, today I share with you my May's playlist. The days were very warm, so this is the playlist I have been listening to while I'm at the beach or the garden, these are songs that really call for summer. There are some new songs. I really liked the new album by Janeiro (a Portuguese artist), there are also a few songs from the newest Harry Style's album and the new song by Alison Mosshart, but all the other songs are older. I have also been listening to the first album by The Dead Weather, but for some reason is not available on Spotify, but 'Treat Me Like Your Mother' and '60 Feet Tall' were the songs I listened to the most. What about you? What have you been listening to this month? I really loved all your suggestions last month.

As you can tell by the title of this post, the topic today is a bit more serious. And I decided to talk about this today because, on the day that I shot this outfit, I was wearing a dress in the morning. But I heard so many unsolicited comments that I felt the need to change my outfit and wear jeans instead. Usually, I wouldn't do this, most days I'm strong enough to wear a short dress and don't care about the shit I'm going to hear, but why on earth do I have to be strong to wear a fucking piece of clothing? It blows my mind, and somedays I just don't feel as strong and don't want to deal with that kind of comments, so on that day I surrendered and wore a pair of trousers. It's sad, and please don't tell me that men can't compliment women anymore because there is a huge difference between a compliment and sexual harassment. A compliment will make you feel good, it will never make you feel afraid. A compliment is always respectful and it's never meant to intimidate you. A compliment will uplift you and not make you feel like an object. I don't think is that hard to understand this, it's very simple, we deserve respect, we are women, not objects. And I want to feel comfortable while I'm walking down the street, either if I'm wearing trousers or the shortest skirt I have in my wardrobe.

It has been a while since I last read a memoir, so I really enjoyed reading 'Face It' by Debbie Harry. As I predicted, it has a lot of unbelievable stories, from the start of the band Blondie to her career as an actress. I loved taking a look at how life was in New York in the 70s, and how it was to be friends with major artists such as Andy Warhol, David Bowie or Iggy Pop. However, something that I really like about memoirs is getting to know the writer more intimately and that was something I didn't feel while reading this book. There were a lot of topics that would be interesting to read about that were talked about in a very superficially, for example, I would love to know more about her relationship with Chris Klein or her drugs' addiction. It was very interesting but laked detail. But, anyway, if you like this kind of books, I highly recommend it, it was one of those books that I read very quickly. I also loved the artwork, from the photos (that helped to make the book a bit more personal) to her fan's illustrations. I don't think it's a book everyone will enjoy, but it sure is a very interesting story and a deep look into the life of a rockstar.

"I could be a housewife... I guess I've vacuumed a couple of times."

I think the times we lived made me much more connected with Nature. And the truth is that the days I remember as the best days, I spent around nature, either on the beach or in the countryside. You just have to take a look at these photos to understand what I'm saying, almost all of them were taken around Nature. This time, all these photos were taken with my manual analogue camera, and I loved the final result. The photos have so much more detail than when I shoot with my point & shoot. I still like it very much, and it's way easier to use, but from now on I will use my manual camera more often, I can do a post about it if you like it. I hope you like the photos, and let me know if you see any difference.

Contem-me tudo!

I think the lockdown most of us lived, left us all way more creative. We had to stay at home, so we had to come up with new ways to entertain ourselves at home. I felt like the content on social media was created more often, I just have to look at myself, I shared way more on my Instagram Stories (something that I barely did, and now I update it almost every day). And DIY's were everywhere. If you don't know, DIY means do it yourself, but right now it's much more than just a term, it's a method to create something new with our own hands. I actually have been doing this for a while. For example, these shorts used to be a pair of jeans that I didn't wear that much, so last year I just cut them off. Lately, I've also been doing some necklaces (I will do a post about them soon), and the next project is to dye a tank top to get the tie-dye effect. If you also like this kind of stuff, I recommend following TheLineUp channel on Youtube, Julia has some very cool DIY projects on it. But tell me, have you been doing any kind of DIY lately? Tell me everything!

Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this - I don't bother you, don't bother me".

Here is the second and last part of the analogue photoshoot with my favourite colours. If you know me or have been following me for a while, you probably predicted that the second colour would be black. Even though it's more discreet than red (the colour I wore on the first part that you can see HERE), it's a colour that makes me feel powerful and very badass. I think this is common to a lot of people since it's a colour so used in fashion. For some reason, the little black dress is considered a wardrobe essential. And every time I speak about this colour, it comes to my mind a quote by Yohji Yamamoto that showcases exactly how I feel about black and is the perfect way to end this post: "Black is modest and arrogant at the same time. Black is lazy and easy - but mysterious. But above all black says this - I don't bother you, don't bother me".

I really like memoirs and novels, however, sometimes feels nice to read something that we're not used to, that's why I asked my friends to borrow me some of their favourite books. The first one was 'The Island' that my good friend Li lent to me. It's one of her favourite books, so I was very curious about it. The truth is that I read it rather quickly since the story was so interesting. The book beggings with Alexis, a young girl that decides to know more about her family history, while she's vacationing in Creta. Through that family journey, we're transported to Spinalonga, a leper colony where some of her family members lived, during World War II. It really is a very interesting book, and even though there's some romance in it, it's not the typical chick-lit. I learned a lot about leprosy and the stigma associated with the disease. I also enjoy the way it is written, we really submerge into that world and there's no way you're not drawn to this mystical and intriguing place. Obviously, there's some tragedy on the book, but I didn't find it a very "heavy" book. Maybe I feel this way because I read 'Blindness' before this one which is a very brutal story, but I really think 'The Island' is the perfect summer reading.

A primeira é o vermelho.

We all know what colour is. You just have to check the dictionary to get a detailed definition. Colour is the quality of an object with respect to light reflected by the object. However, I think we can agree that colour is way much more than that. Colour also is a non-verbal form of communication. For centuries that the different colours are associated with different emotions. For example, black is associated with grief or green with hope. Nowadays, I don't think that it's so literal, but, definitely, we can showcase our mood trough the colours that we wear. Today I bring you another analogue photoshoot. I will divide it into two parts, and I'll be wearing colours that make me feel powerful in each one of them. The first one is red. It's a colour that I really love, and it's very associated with passion and seduction. It's a colour that makes me feel confident in myself, either if I'm wearing something in this colour or just red lipstick. It's a bold colour that will catch people attention so you have to be confident in order to wear it. So here I am in an all-red outfit, feeling myself. I hope you like the photos.

I don't know if you can remember, but at the beginning of the year, I shared with you that one of my goals this year was to switch all my beauty products to products from cruelty-free brands. I'm still far away from reaching this goal, but I'm in the right direction. I already changed a few products and found some cruelty-free brands that I became a fan of. That's exactly what I'm sharing with you today, and also some of my favourite products from each brand. Tell me if you know more cruelty-free brands that I should try, when it comes to makeup, I still have a long way ahead of me.

Skincare: The Ordinary

Like I already said on my Instagram, I really like Kiehl's moisturizer cream, but it finished, and since I have this goal, I decided to try out a moisturizer from The Ordinary. Besides being way cheaper than Kiehl's (something that I really wasn't aware of), it's also very high-quality. The moisturizer is already one of my favourites, and I can't wait to try their very-well known serums.

Haircare: Gisou

You're probably already tired of hearing me talk about Gisou, but when it comes to hair care, it really is one of my favourite brands. I really want to try their other products, I'm very curious about the shampoo and the hair mask, but the honey infused oil is one of the best products I ever used in my hair.

Makeup: Flormar

It has been a while since I first started using Flormar's products, but only recently I found out that it's a cruelty-free brand. The eyeliner I use is from this brand and it's my favourite ever, but I also have other products from this brand that I've been loving to use, such as eyeshadows and blush, but I definitely want to try more products and also find other cruelty-free makeup brands, it has been really hard for me to find cruelty-free makeup products.

To buy or not to buy? That was the question I did to myself several times while in quarantine. Even though I spent my days at home, I really wanted to buy new clothes. It's easy to get lost on the online stores, and it's even easier to add something to our carts and buy it with just a click. I like clothes, and I know this sounds very superficial, getting new clothes makes me happy. I like having something new in my closet and think about all the different ways I can wear it. But, as I already shared several times before, my shopping habits changed a lot, and I don't want to buy something impulsively. So I followed the tips that I shared HERE, and I didn't buy one single piece of clothing. I bought books, socks and some beauty products, but no clothes. And, besides, we can always modify the clothes we already have in our closets and have a brand new piece. That's what happened with this cardigan that Marta embroidered for me, you just have to follow her on Instagram to learn all this DIY'S. What used to be a very regular cardigan that I barely wore, it's now a very cute piece of clothing that I will wear a lot.

Normal People
★★★★★

This show is one of the best ones I watched recently. It has been a long time since I got so emotional while watching a TV show. It's based on Sally Rooney's novel that I read last year (you can read my review HERE) and follows the lives of Marianne and Connell and their relationship throughout the years.

I Love Dick
★☆☆☆☆

This show is also based on a book I read last year, but, actually, I don't think it's that well made. On the book, even though the characters have some attitudes we don't like, deep down we can understand the reason why they're doing it. On the series, I don't think this happens what made me hate all the characters. It's a very unusual love triangle and, even though it's very beautiful visually, I really didn't enjoy it.

High Fidelity
★★★☆☆

It's not the first time I talk about this series, I already told you how much I loved all the outfits that Zöe Kravitz's character wears, but I still haven't told you what I actually thought about it. It's also based on a book (that I haven't read yet) and follows the life of Rob, a girl who owns a record shop in New York and really dives into her love life. It's not a mindblowing story, the plot is very light, but it's the perfect entertainment for this time that we're living.

Finally, film diaries are back. You can't imagine how much I missed sharing this kind of photos with you. The truth is that I kept shooting analogue photos during quarantine, I just couldn't develop the film. But here are the lastest analogue photos I took. During this time, I also start shooting with a new totally manual analogue camera, so these photos are a mix between photos taken with that camera, and my usual point & shoot. I hope you like the photos.
