Wow, sinto que já foi há uma eternidade a última vez que escrevi um post sobre livros. Sinto que no Verão leio muito menos, além de que estive a ler alguns livros dos quais desisti a meio, por isso, obviamente, não vou escrever uma review sobre eles. Mas estou de volta e já tenho algumas reviews para partilhar com vocês. Começamos com 'As Cinco Irmãs' de Cinzia Giorgio. O livro foi-me oferecido, por isso não tinha grandes expectativas, mas gostei bastante. Não é uma história super densa ou super interessante, mas era exatamente o que eu precisava para retomar o meu hábito de leitura. Para quem gosta de moda pode ser bastante interessante, pois este livro conta a história da família Fendi que, como podem imaginar, foi a família que criou a marca com o mesmo nome. Mas é também uma história de amizade, entre Adele Casagrande e Maddalena Splendori. A primeira realmente existiu e, juntamente com o seu marido Edoardo Fendi, cria a marca Fendi. A segunda equilibra-se entre a ficção e a realidade. O livro abrange 90 anos de história, incluindo os anos em que Karl Lagerfeld esteve à frente da Fendi. Apesar disso, o que mais gostei neste livro foi perceber o quão importante foi o papel das mulheres para esta marca (desde Adele às suas cinco filhas). O livro vive muito da ficção e da realidade e foi algo que, por vezes, foi um pouco confuso para mim. Como é óbvio, a história que está a ser contada é real, mas nem todas as personagens que vão aparecendo o são o que pode acabar por ser um pouco confuso. Uma leitura fácil, mas agradável.
Wow, I feel like it has been a lifetime since I last wrote a blog post about books. I think during Summer I read way less, and I even had to give up on some books I was reading, so I'm not going to write about those obviously. But I'm back and I have some reviews to share with you already. Let's start with 'The Five Sisters' by Cinzia Giorgio (I'm not sure if it's translated already). The book was a gift so I didn't have many expectations, but I quite like it. It's not a super deep and interesting story, but it was exactly what I needed to pick up on my reading habits. To people who like fashion, this can be quite an interesting book since it tells the story of the Fendi family who, as you can imagine, created the brand with the same name. But it's also a story about the friendship, between Adele Casagrande and Maddalene Splendori. The first one actually existed and she's the one who, together with her husband Edoardo Fendi, created the Fendi brand. The second one balances reality and fiction. The book goes through 90 years of story, including the days when Karl Lagerfeld was the creative director of Fendi. Despite that, what I enjoyed the most was realizing how important women were to this brand (from Adele to her five daughters). The book lives between fiction and reality which sometimes can be quite confusing. Obviously, the story being told was real, but not all the characters are which ends up being quite a bit messy. But it was an easy and pleasant read.
