Ouvi falar sobre este livro no podcast Ponto Final, Parágrafo (se gostam de literatura recomendo imenso) e desde então que queria muito lê-lo. Estou a falar do livro 'Novas Cartas Portuguesas', obra escrita por três autoras (as "três Marias") e intitulado como um marco inquestionável na história da literatura portuguesa. A verdade é que não é um livro muito falado e que está um pouco esquecido, mas que teve imenso impacto fora de Portugal e, atrevo-me a dizer, que é dos mais importantes livros sobre feminismo escrito em português. É composto por diversos tipos de textos: cartas, apontamentos e poemas. Estes textos falam da paixão de Mariana, uma freira enclausurada, por um general francês, mas o livro também é muito mais que esta paixão. Escrito em tempos de ditadura, utiliza uma linguagem aberta e sem censura ao escrever sobre sexualidade, o prazer feminino, orientação sexual e o papel da mulher na sociedade, o que levou as autoras a um processo judicial. Apesar de ser um livro já com bastantes anos, (in)felizmente é um livro bastante atual, pois o problema da igualdade entre os sexos ainda não está resolvida nos dias de hoje. Sem dúvida, que todos deviam ler este livro. É um livro denso e, por vezes, difícil de compreender, mas a nova edição tem umas notas finais que ajudam a compreender melhor esta obra tão importante da nossa literatura.
I first heard about this book on the Ponto Final, Parágrafo podcast, and since then that I really wanted to read it. I'm talking about 'The Three Marias: The New Portuguese Letters' wrote by three writers (the "three Marias") and known as a remarkable book on Portuguese literature history. The truth is that this book is not very well-known here in Portugal, but I'm pretty sure it's one of the most important books about feminism written in Portuguese. It's composed of different kinds of texts: letters, notes and poems. These texts talk about the passion between Mariana, a cloistered nun, and a French general, but the book is also much more than that. Written during the dictatorship regime, it uses open language and talks about sexuality, female pleasure and the women's role in society which took the authors to court. Even though it was written a long time ago, (un)fortunately it's also very relatable since the problem of equality between genres it's still very present in our days. Without a doubt, everyone should read this book. It's not an easy read, and sometimes can be hard to understand, but this new edition has some notes at the end that will help you understand this amazing book.
