Os livros do David Sedaris estão sempre na minha reading list, é sem dúvida um dos meus escritores favoritos, por isso quando vi que lançou um novo livro tive de comprar. Chama-se 'The Best Of Me' e, como o nome indica, é um conjunto das suas melhores crónicas, escolhidas pelo próprio. Gostei mesmo muito do livro. O humor, tão característico do escritor, está presente em todo o livro e fez-me mesmo rir imenso. Ironicamente, diria que não é um livro para os maiores fãs do David Sedaris. Isto porque muitas das crónicas que vão encontrar provavelmente já leram nos seus outros livros, algo que me aconteceu. Apenas a última crónica sobre o seu pai não foi publicada em livros anteriores. É mais um livro para quem quer começar a ler Sedaris. Encontram muito do seu material autobiográfico (o meu favorito), bem como algumas das suas histórias de ficção. No entanto, eu gostei muito. O escritor nunca desaponta. Humor é algo que todos precisamos nestes dias, por isso comprem uma cópia, prometo que se vão rir imenso.
David Sedaris' books are always on my reading list, he's definitely one of my favourite writers, so when I found out that he launched a new book I had to buy it. It's called 'The Best Of Me' and as you can tell by the title is a collection of self-curated essays. I really loved the book. Sedaris' trademark dry humour is present throughout the whole book, and it really makes you laugh out loud. However, I wouldn't say this is a book for his die-hard fans since you will mostly find essays that you probably already read in his previous books, something that happened to me. It's a book perfect for those who want to start getting into his work. But I loved it anyway. He never disappoints. Humour can be a life safer and much needed these days, so just grab a copy of this book, I assure you you will have a laugh.
