Já há algum tempo que não lia um livro de memórias, por isso adorei ler o 'Face It' da Debbie Harry. Tal como tinha previsto, está cheio de histórias inacreditáveis, deste o início da banda Blondie à sua carreira como actriz. Adorei saber mais como era viver em Nova Iorque nos anos 70 e conviver com artistas como Andy Warhol, David Bowie ou Iggy Pop. No entanto, algo que gosto nos livro de memórias é sentir que fiquei a conhecer o escritor de uma forma mais íntima e foi algo que não senti na leitura deste livro. Vários tópicos que seriam interessantes de ler foram abordados de uma forma muito superficial, como por exemplo a sua relação com Chris Klein ou o seu problema com drogas. Faltaram muitos detalhes que teriam tornado este livro muito mais interessante. Mas, de qualquer das formas, se este tipo de livros é algo que gostam, eu recomendo-o, foi daqueles livros que li num instante. Adorei também todo o artwork, desde as fotografias (que ajudaram a tornar o livro mais pessoal) às ilustrações dos fãs. Não acho que seja um livro que toda a gente vá gostar, mas é, sem dúvida, um livro com uma história fantástica e uma porta aberta para a vida de uma rock star.
It has been a while since I last read a memoir, so I really enjoyed reading 'Face It' by Debbie Harry. As I predicted, it has a lot of unbelievable stories, from the start of the band Blondie to her career as an actress. I loved taking a look at how life was in New York in the 70s, and how it was to be friends with major artists such as Andy Warhol, David Bowie or Iggy Pop. However, something that I really like about memoirs is getting to know the writer more intimately and that was something I didn't feel while reading this book. There were a lot of topics that would be interesting to read about that were talked about in a very superficially, for example, I would love to know more about her relationship with Chris Klein or her drugs' addiction. It was very interesting but laked detail. But, anyway, if you like this kind of books, I highly recommend it, it was one of those books that I read very quickly. I also loved the artwork, from the photos (that helped to make the book a bit more personal) to her fan's illustrations. I don't think it's a book everyone will enjoy, but it sure is a very interesting story and a deep look into the life of a rockstar.
