Para ser sincera com vocês, nunca tinha ouvido falar neste livro e, obviamente, que não estava na minha reading list, mas a Fnac (a quem aproveito para agradecer) enviou-me O Nome da Rosa de Umberto Eco e decidi dar-lhe uma oportunidade. É um romance histórico e conta a história de uma série de crimes que acontecem num mosteiro beneditino. O franciscano Guilherme de Baskerville é chamado para investigar as heresias que acontecem no mosteiro, no entanto, a sucessiva morte de diferentes monges altera o rumo da sua investigação. Tudo isto acontece em sete dias, tempo em que a história se desenvolve. Não vou mentir, é um livro difícil. Primeiro porque é muito denso (é daqueles livros que intitulamos de calhamaço), segundo porque tem imensas personagens com diferentes nomes que são difíceis de memorizar, terceira tem imensas passagens em latim sem qualquer tradução e, por último, também foi difícil pois não é de todo o tipo de livro que costumo ler. Não é uma história que nos prende ao livro, é até uma história com um ritmo bastante lento, o que pode ser desmotivante quando têm tantas páginas pela frente. Gostei de algumas partes, mas também me decepcionou. Não é, definitivamente, o meu tipo de livro.
To be honest with you, I've never heard anything about this book so, obviously, it wasn't on my reading list, but Fnac kindly sent me The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and I decided to give it a chance. It's a historical novel and tells the story of several crimes that happen in a Benedicinte monastery. Franciscan friar Willian of Baskerville is called to investigate what was happening at the monastery, however, the successive deaths of monks changes his investigation. All of this happens throughout seven days, the time when the story develops. I'm not going to lie, it's a very hard book. First of all, because it's very big, second because it has loads of characters that are very hard to keep up with, and it was also hard for me because it's not the typical book I'm used to reading. It's not super engaging, it's a very slow-paced story. I enjoyed it for the most part but also find it a bit dissaponting. It's not my cup of tea.
