Já tinha lido muito boas recomendações deste livro pelas redes sociais e, depois de uma visita à Poetria (livraria que recomendo imenso se forem do Porto), decidi trazê-lo comigo. O livro em questão é 'A Gorda' da Isabel Figueiredo. O livro quase que funciona como um diário de Maria Luísa, a personagem principal. Uma mulher bonita, inteligente, com uma forte personalidade e, como seria de imaginar pelo título do livro, gorda. É um livro que aborda temas como o bullying, o sentimento de não pertencer a lugar nenhum, a solidão, mas também nos mostra o impacto que a aparência tem na vida de uma pessoa. É uma história simples, mas também as histórias simples têm de ser contadas. Confesso que o meu interesse pelo livro se foi desmorecendo ao longo da leitura, pois acaba por ser um pouco repetitivo. Mas a escrita é incrível, gostei muito mesmo. Muito bonita e elegante, mas ao mesmo tempo crua e áspera. Não é um livro perfeito e acho que todas as críticas que li anteriormente eram um pouco exageradas, mas gostei e recomendo.
I have read some really good reviews about this book on social media and after going to Poetria (a really good book store here in Porto), I decided to bring it with me. The book I'm talking about is 'A Gorda' (which means the fat one) by Isabel Figueiredo. Unfortunately, there's no English translation but I will talk a bit about it anyway. The book is pretty much a diary of Maria Luísa, the main character. A woman who's beautiful, smart, with a very strong personality but fat. It's a book that touches on topics such as bullying, the feeling of belonging nowhere, loneliness, and also show us how our look has a huge impact on our lives. It's a simple story, but simple stories also need to be told. I confess that by the end I lost a bit of interest in the book because it started being quite repetitive. But it's so well written, I really loved that. The writing is very beautiful and elegant, but raw and rough at the same it. It's not a perfect book, and I think some of the reviews I read before were a bit too much, but I liked it and recommend it.
