Agosto está mesmo a chegar ao fim, por isso, como sempre, está na hora de partilhar com vocês a minha playlist do mês. Podem encontrar imensas músicas da Billie Eilish, isto porque adorei o novo álbum dela. Já era fã e os segundos álbuns às vezes podem ser complicados, mas ela arrasou. Podem encontrar as minhas músicas favoritas na playlist. Numa onda completamente diferente, gostei também do novo álbum da Iggy Azalea e uma banda que também acompanho há algum tempo e que tem um trabalho novo são os Skinner Brothers. Está muito all over the place esta playlist, mas é assim mesmo que eu gosto.

August is almost coming to an end so, as usual, it's time to share with you my monthly playlist. There are loads of Billie Eilish's songs because I loved her new album. I was already a fan, and sometimes second albums can be tricky, but she completely nailed it. You can listen to my favourite songs from the album on the playlist. On a completely different vibe, I also enjoyed Iggy Azalea's new album, and also a band that I've been following for a while and that has a new album are The Skinner Brothers. This playlist is all over the place, but that's how I like it.

No outro dia, vi um vídeo no Youtube com o mesmo título deste post e achei que poderia ser engraçado refletir no mesmo e escrever um post sobre as coisas que já não compro. Como já disse algumas vezes, eu era o tipo de pessoa que comprava roupa nova quase todas as semanas. Felizmente, já não sou de todo assim e, finalmente, encontrei o meu estilo o que também ajuda muito na hora de decidir o que vestir e no que investir. Aqui estão cinco coisas que já não compro.

The other day I was watching a Youtube video with the same title of this post, and I thought it would be fun to write a blog post about the things I no longer buy. As I said several times before, I was the kind of person who bought a piece of clothing almost every week. Luckily, I'm no longer that person and I'm at a place where I know my style which is very helpful when I have to decide what to wear and what to invest in. So here are five things I no longer buy.

1. Super Colorful Clothes

Não posso dizer que não goste de roupa colorida, porque até gosto muito, mas sei que são peças que não se vão enquadrar com o resto do meu armário e que vão acabar por ser usadas poucas vezes, pois não são de todo o meu estilo.

I can't say I don't like colourful clothes, I actually do, but I know those are pieces of clothing that will not get along with the rest of my wardrobe and will end be worn just a couple of times since they're totally not my style.

2. Uncomfortable Shoes

Tive a minha fase em que sacrificava o conforto em nome do estilo só para tirar umas fotos de um outfit com uns sapatos super desconfortáveis, mas já não faço isso. Raramente uso saltos (talvez no Inverno, mas porque já tenho algumas pares que são bastante confortáveis) e o conforto é a minha prioridade sempre.

I had my phase where I would sacrifice style over comfort just to get some photos of a nice outfit with very uncomfortable shoes but I just can't do that anymore. I barely wear heels (maybe during Winter since I have a few pairs that are very comfortable) and I always prioritize comfort.

3. Impulse Purchases

Se for às compras, o que na realidade já acontece raramente, levo sempre uma lista daquilo que quero comprar e compro só aquilo que andava à procura. Compras impulsivas raramente são uma boa escolha, para mim.

If I go shopping, which actually barely happens nowadays, I always make a list of the things I'm looking for and I stuck to the list. Impulsive purchases are barely a good choice for me.

4. Poor Quality Clothes

Não posso dizer que já não compro roupa em marcas fast-fashion porque sei que eventualmente o vou fazer, mas já não consigo mesmo comprar roupa com má qualidade. Estou tão orgulhosa do meu armário com peças básicas e de excelente qualidade que já não consigo introduzir algo que seja de má qualidade.

I can't say that I will never buy fast fashion ever again because I know eventually I will, but I really can't buy poor quality clothes. I'm so proud of my wardrobe with basics with excellent quality that I just can't add something that has bad quality.

5. Anything Too Trend Based

É fácil cair nas tendências do momento e comprar roupa nova só por causa disso e era algo que também eu fazia, mas já não o faço mais. Sei o meu estilo, sei aquilo que gosto e é nisso que me foco.

It's easy to go through the rabbit hole of buying super trendy clothes just because they are trendy. It is something I used to do, but not anymore. I know my style, I know what I like, and I stick to it.

Há algum tempo que queria escrever este post, mas nunca soube muito bem como começar. Não é que o saiba agora, mas sinto que está na altura de falar no "beach body". O quão estúpido é esse termo? Claro que todos nós percebemos a intenção do mesmo, mas quase que parece que se não tens o corpo perfeito (outro termo completamente relativo) então não o podes mostrar livremente e confortavelmente numa praia. Deixem-me que vos diga: se têm um corpo (se estão a ler este post viu tirar do princípio que sim) e se estiverem na praia, então têm um beach body. Sejam magros, gordos ou algo no meio, basta irmos à praia para termos o intitulado beach body. É horrível como algumas revistas ainda fazem capas com o top 50 dos melhores beach bodies do Verão (sempre só mulheres, obviamente) ou como algumas dietas (nem vou começar no tema das dietas) se promovem também com este termo. Nós, mulheres, estamos constantemente a sofrer esta pressão para estarmos sempre perfeitas e, honestemente, isto tem de parar. Temos de começar a apreciar os nosso corpos por aquilo que são e aquilo que nos permitem fazer. Por isso, da próxima vez que alguém vos perguntar se têm um beach body, vistam o vosso bikini favorito e digam: fuck yeah!

For a while that I've been wanting to write this blog post but I just don't know how to start. Not that I know now, but I feel like it's time to talk about the "beach body". How fucking stupid is this term? Of course, we all understand the intent of that, but it almost feels like if you don't have the perfect body (another very stupid and relative term) then you can't show it up comfortably on the beach. Let me tell you: if you have a body (if you're reading this then I'm pretty sure you do) and if you're at the beach, then you have a beach body. That's all it takes. Either you're skinny, fat, or something in between, just go to the beach and you have a beach body. It's crazy how certain magazines still do covers with the top 50 of beach bodies of the Summer (always just women, obviously) or how some diets are also promoted that way (don't even get me started on the diets). Women are always surrounded by this pressure to look perfect, and it has to stop. We have to start appreciating our bodies for what they are and what they allowed us to do. So next time someone asks you: are you beach body ready? Just throw on your favourite bikini and say: fuck yeah"

Penso que foi no ano passado que li a obra incontornável de George Orwell, 1984. Gostei bastante do livro o que me abriu a curiosidade para ler mais do seu trabalho. Decidi então ler o Triunfo dos Porcos. Um livro publicado em 1945, mas que continua muito atual e relevante. Conta a história dos animais que viviam na Quinta Augusta, que estando farto dos maus tratos a que estavam sujeitos, decidem começar uma rebelião, expulsando os humanos da quinta e tornado a herdade num paraíso de progresso, justiça e igualdade. No entanto, com o passar do tempo, estes ideais acabam por ser corrompidos e uma nova ditadura é instaurada. Comparando com o 1984 é um livro mais simples, mas igualmente político e com uma mensagem super poderosa. Em poucas páginas (não é um livro muito grande), passa uma mensagem que todos nós devíamos ler. Mostra-nos como a classe dominante humilha a classe operária. Como a classe operária é vítima de lavagens cerebrais. Como o poder corrompe toda a gente. É fantástico como o Orwell crítica a política e um governo totalitário, usando animais para explicar o que os humanos fazem. Gostei mesmo muito deste livro. Super que recomendo. Acho que até gostei mais do que o 1984 (unpopular opinion, eu sei, mas fica só entre nós).

I think I read last year the undeniable book by George Orwell, 1984. I really enjoyed it and made me very curious about his other work. So I decided to give Animal Farm a go. It was published in 1945, but it's still very fresh and relevant. It tells the story of the animals living on the Manor Farm. They were so sick and tired of the abuse they were under, that they decided to rebel against them, and kicked out all the humans from the farm, making the farm a paradise of progress, justice, and equality. However, throughout the years, these ideals fall dawn and a new dictatorship starts. Comparing it to 1984, it's simpler, but equally politic and with a very strong message. In just a few pages (it's not a very big book), it tells a very strong and powerful tale. It shows us how the ruling class makes fun of the working class. How the working class is being brainwashed. How power corrupts everyone. It's amazing how Orwell criticizes the political frame and totalitarian rule, using animals to explain what humans do. Yeah, I loved it. Highly recommend it. I even think I prefer this one to 1984 (unpopular opinion, I know, but it stays just between us).

Autorretrato. Fotografia que alguém tira de si mesmo. Há algo de muito poético nos autorretratos, não acham? Porque os tiramos? Com que objetivos os tiramos? Será que queremos representar o verdadeiro eu ou esconder o nosso verdadeiro eu? É um autorretrato o mesmo que uma selfie? São questões que me ponho a pensar quando tiro este tipo de fotografias, mas a verdade é que me tenho divertido imenso a fotografar autorretratos e a brincar com diferentes ângulos e até mesmo objetos. Podem ver mais alguns que tirei no meu Instagram. Estes dois foram dos meus preferidos nos últimos tempos e quero fazer cada vez mais, gosto mesmo muito do resultado. Mas, digam-me, o que acham vocês destes auto-retratos? E têm resposta para alguma das questões mencionada?

Self-portrait. A photo someone takes of themselves. There's something very poetic about self-portraits, don't you think? Why do we take them? What's our goal? Do we want to showcase our true self or hide our true self? Is a self-portrait the same thing as a selfie? These are questions that come to my mind when I take these kinds of photos, but the truth is that I've been having a lot of fun shooting self-portraits and playing with different angles and even different objects. You can see some more on my Instagram. These two are some of my favourites and I really want to shoot them more often, I really like the result. But tell me, do you like these self-portraits? Normalmente, nunca escrevo sem um tópico em mente. Como a control freak que sou tenho sempre imensas listas com assuntos sobre os quais quero falar. Mas um destes dias fui à praia e muito espontaneamente criei estas fotografias das quais gosto muito e queria imenso partilhá-las aqui no blog, criar um post só para elas e deixá-las falar por si próprias. São uma recordação de uma manhã perfeita se querem saber. Acordei cedo, apanhei o autocarro e passei algumas horas na praia antes do trabalho. O quão bom é isto? Ter a oportunidade de tomar um banho no mar antes do trabalho. Sou mesmo muito sortuda. Espero que gostem das fotografias.

I don't usually write without a topic in mind. As the control freak that I am, I always have a million lists with topics I want to talk about. But one of these days I went to the beach, and very spontaneously created these photos which I«m very proud of so I really wanted to share them here, get them their own blog post and let them speak for themselves. Honestly, this was the perfect morning. I woke up early, took the bus and just spend a few hours at the beach before work. How nice is that, really? To be able to take a dive in the sea before starting to work. I really am very lucky. I hope you enjoy these photos.

Se há uma razão pela qual algumas pessoas gostam do Outono é a moda. Podes brincar com a roupa de uma forma completamente diferente. É algo que eu acho mesmo divertido. No Verão, acontece completamente o contrário. Não podes brincar muito com o teu armário de Verão. Vestes um vestido e é isso. Podes pôr uns calções e uma t-shirt, mas não podes criar muitas mais camadas, a não ser que queiras morrer de calor. Se estiveres na praia, não há muita roupa envolvida. Este outfit em específico eu diria que é bastante aborrecido. Claro que adoro todas estas peças. O tank top é dos meus favoritos. E as calças de ganga uso tanto que já tenho o mesmo modelo em diferentes cores. Mas é bastante básico. Por vezes, sinto que devia fazer algo mais com os meus outfits de forma a serem inspiradores para vocês, mas no Verão é mesmo difícil para mim. Por isso, podem esperar mais outfits aborrecidos brevemente, com alguma sorte pode ser que os acham inspiradores, caso contrário podem esperar mais alguns meses.

If there's a reason why some people love Autumn is because of the fashion. You can play with clothes on another level. It's so much fun. But in the summer, it's completely the opposite. You can't do much with a summer wardrobe. You put on a dress and that it's. You can put on some shorts and a t-shirt, but you can´t create more layers otherwise you will die of heat. And if you're on the beach, there's no much clothing involve. This outfit in specific I would say it's quite boring. Sure, I love all these pieces. The tank top is one of my favourites. These jeans I wear all the time and love them so much that I already have them in several different washes. But it's quite basic. Sometimes I feel I should do more with my outfits to make them a bit more inspiring for you, but Summer is really hard for me. So yeah, there are more boring outfits coming your way, hopefully, you will get some inspiration out of them, otherwise, let's just wait a few more months.

Depois de a minha mãe ler este livro, ela disse-me que eu o tinha de ler. Aparentemente, não é o meu tipo de livro, mas gostei imenso. Estou a falar de A Sombra do Vento do Carlos Ruiz Záfon. Passa-se em Barcelona, em 1945, e Daniel, a personagem principal e filho de um livreiro, encontra um misterioso livro intitulado A Sombra do Vento de Julian Carax. Mas quando ele tenta encontrar mais obras do mesmo autor, descobre que ao longo dos tempos alguém tem vindo a queimar esses livros. "É um filme em papel". Li esta frase algures e não podia concordar mais. Há tanto a acontecer que este livro seria um filme fantástico. Há crime, há drama, há romance e há mistério. Há realmente muita coisa a acontecer ao longo destas páginas, mas é o que torna este livro tão bom. E é daquelas obras que captam a nossa atenção desde a primeira página até à última. Sem dúvida, uma excelente leitura.

After my mom reading this book, she told me I had to as well. At first sight, it's not my kind of book, but I really enjoyed it. I'm talking about The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Záfon. It's set in Barcelona, in 1945, and Daniel, the main character and the son of an antiquarian book dealer, finds a mysterious book entitled The Shadow of the Wind by Julian Carax. He soon tries to find other work by the author, but he finds that for a while someone has been burning those books. "This is a film on paper". I read this quote somewhere and I totally agree. There's so much going on that makes it the perfect book. There's crime, there's drama, there's romance, there's mystery. There's a lot going on, but it's what makes this book so perfect. And it really is one of those books that caught your attention from the first page until the last one. A must-read.

"Books are mirrors: you only see in them what you already have inside you."

Tendo de definir o meu estilo em apenas uma palavra, facilmente, diria: minimalista. Às vezes, gosto de fugir à regra, mas, essencialmente, gosto de básicos, cores neutras e cortes simples. Claro que acabo por seguir contas com um estilo semelhante e é engraçado pois existem pequenas coisas que nós, minimalistas, temos em comum. Aqui estão algumas delas.

If I had to define my style in just one word, I would easily say minimalist. Sometimes I like to play a little, but I like basics, neutral colours and simples cuts essentially. Of course, I end up following similar accounts and it's funny because there are small things that we, minimalists, all have in common. Here are a few of them.

We Love A Cat-Eye Eyeliner

Não sei muito bem porquê, mas todas as raparigas que têm um estilo mais minimalista, adoram o cat-eye, eu incluída como é óbvio. Talvez seja porque usamos outfits mais simples e queremos brincar um pouco mais com a maquilhagem, ou então simplesmente porque gostamos do efeito esteticamente, mas é realmente algo que temos em comum.

I don't know why this happens, but almost every minimalist uses a cat-eye eyeliner, myself included. Maybe it's because our outfits are simples and we like to play with makeup, or maybe we just like it aesthetically, but we all love a good cat-eye.

We Worship The Oversized Blazer

Peças básicas são as nossas favoritas, mas o blazer oversized é a peça que vão encontrar no armário de qualquer minimalista. Provavelmente têm mais que um e usam-nos para as mais diversas ocasiões.

Basic pieces are our favourites, but the oversized blazer is the piece of clothing you will find in the wardrobe of any minimalist. They probably have more than one, and they use them for the most different occasions.

Once In A While, We Get Really Into One Colour

Este também é um ponto que acho bastante engraçado, pois, apesar de adorarmos as cores neutras, de vez em quando ficamos viciadas numa cor e, normalmente, é sempre a mesma. Há uns tempos passamos por uma fase do verde, estamos agora no azul e o amarelo está cada vez mais forte.

This is something that I also find very funny because even though we love neutral colours, once in a while we get really into one colour, and it's usually the same for everyone. A while ago, we went through a green phase, we're now in the blue one, and yellow is just getting strong by the day.

Este post era suposto ter saído na última semana, mas estive tão ocupada que preferi esperar e preparar tudo com calma, sei que se fizesse o post cansada e cheia de pressa não ia ficar a mesma coisa. A fazer uma pausa no trabalho e dar uma passeio pela cidade. / On a break from work and strolling around the city.

Nas últimas semanas não tenho lido imenso e, como consequência, claro que os posts sobre livros também têm sido um pouco mais escassos. No entanto, I'm back on track, e, hoje, venho-vos falar do livro 'A Câmara Clara' de Roland Barthes. É um livro sobre fotografia e reflete na importância da mesma. Como amante de fotografia foi um livro que adorei ler e com frases que me marcaram bastante, por isso hoje partilho com vocês algumas delas. E, se também gostam de fotografia, recomendo imenso que leiam este livro, vai-vos fazer pensar na fotografia de uma forma completamente diferente.

In the last couple of weeks, I haven't read a lot and, obviously, the posts about books are not coming as regularly. But I'm back on track, and today I'm talking to you about 'Camera Lucida' by Roland Barthes. It's a book about photography and its importance. As a photography lover, I really enjoyed reading this book, and some quotes really made me think, so I'm sharing some of them with you today. And if you also love photography, I highly recommend you to read this book, it will make you think about photography in a completely different way.

- "Ultimately — or at the limit — in order to see a photograph well, it is best to look away or close your eyes. 'The necessary condition for an image is sight,'Janouch told Kafka; and Kafka smiled and replied: 'We photograph things in order to drive them out of our minds. My stories are a way of shutting my eyes.”

- “What the Photograph reproduces to infinity has occurred only once: the Photograph mechanically repeats what could never be repeated existentially.”

- “The incapacity to name is a good symptom of disturbance.”

Há duas coisas que, para mim, são as mais difíceis em ser influencer ou content creator (o que quiserem chamar). A primeira é escrever descrições, sou, literalmente, a pior. E a segunda é, às vezes, e apenas às vezes, encontrar um sítio para fotografar. Há dias em que sabemos exatamente onde fotografar, a luz funciona e tudo corre de forma simples e tranquila. Outros dias, encontrar um sítio é a pior coisa. Quase que demora mais do que fotografar o próprio do outfit. Procuras, procuras e nada parece funcionar. Sim, acertaram, aconteceu isso mesmo quando fotografei este outfit. Experimentámos tantos sítios e nada funcionava. Ou a luz ficava terrível ou o outfit não se destacava, era tudo só okay, sabem? E quando criamos conteúdo não queremos que seja apenas okay, queremos que fique o mais perfeito possível. Mas acho que acabámos por encontrar o spot e resultou super bem. Adoro a vibe destas fotografias, quase que parece que foram tiradas num outro país. Por isso, como muitas pessoas dizem, sim, tudo o que as influencer fazem é tirar fotos, mas essas fotos demoram o seu tempo.

There are two things that I find the hardest about this job of being an influencer or a content creator (whatever you want to call it). The first one is writing captions, I'm literally the worst, and the second is, sometimes, and only sometimes, finding a location to shoot at. Some days you know exactly where you want to shoot, the light works, and everything goes well and smooth. Other days finding a location is the worst thing. It almost takes more time than shooting the outfit itself. You look and look, and nothing feels right. Yeah, you guessed it, this was one of those days. We tried so many locations, and either the light didn't work or the outfit didn't stand out, it was just okay, you know? And when you're creating content you don't want to just be okay, you want to find the most perfect location. But, in the end, we find this spot and I think we totally got it. I love the vibe of these photos, it almost feels like I'm in some other country. So there you go, yeah all we do is take photos (like some people say), but those photos take time.
