Greenwashing. Há uns tempos deparei-me com este termo e achei super interessante, pois acho que é algo de que todos estamos a sofrer um pouco ultimamente. Somos bombardeados com certas campanhas de marketing, vemos certos documentários e somos levados a crer que tudo o que vemos são verdades absolutas, mas muitas das vezes é exatamente o oposto. Ser environmental-friendly está tão na moda agora (e não me interpretem mal, estou mesmo contente que assim o seja), que acreditamos em qualquer coisa com a máxima das facilidades. Estamos, constantemente, a ser brainwashed (ou, neste caso, greenwashed). Um exemplo perfeito disto são as coleções "sustentáveis" das grandes marcas de fast-fashion. Okay, até podem usar menos água a produzir as peças e usar tecidos orgânicos, mas se são peças que continuam a ser produzidas em massa, como é possível chamar isso de sustentável? Parece que ao comprarmos dessa coleção até nos sentimos melhor com a nossa compra (e até eu mesma já fui esta pessoa), mas o mais sustentável será sempre comprar vintage ou em segunda-mão. Não se deixem levar por campanhas de marketing enganadoras e façam sempre a vossa pesquisa sobre todos os assuntos que vos interessam, só assim poderemos mesmo ser amigos do ambiente e viver uma vida mais sustentável.
Greenwashing. I came across this word, and I found it very interesting because I really believe it's something we're all suffering from. We see certain marketing campaigns, we watch some documentaries, and we believe all of that is true, but most of the times they're just making us believe it is. Being environment-friendly is so trendy right now (and I'm really glad it is), that we just believe anything. We're constantly being brainwashed (or greenwashed in this case). A perfect example of that is the "sustainable" collections of major fast-fashion brands. Okay, they may use less water producing it or use organic fabrics, but if it's still going into mass production, there's no way you can call that sustainable. We almost feel less guilty with our purchase if we buy from that collection (and I've been that person in the past), but second-hand or vintage will always be more sustainable. Don't believe in misleading marketing campaigns, and always do your research on the topics you're interested in, there's the only way we can all be more environmental-friendly and live a more sustainable life.
