As you probably noticed, I was a bunch of time without shooting on film. The 'film diaries' were on hold, just like the analogue photoshoots. The truth is that I wasn't really feeling, but with certain restrictions lifting, the inspiration returned, so all those categories are going to be back on the blog as well. So last weekend I went to different locations to shoot some film photos, and that just made me realize how much I love film photography and reflecting on the reasons why that happens, so here are a few of them together with some of the film photos I took. I hope you like them.

1. It's A Process

It's a whole process, and I love it. Shooting the film according to what kind of photos you're planning, taking the photos (which it's a challenge itself), delivering the film, and getting the photos. It's something that you will never get with digital photography.

2. It Takes Time

Shooting with analogue cameras can really teach you to be patient. With only a few limited amount of frames in each roll of film, you really have to be careful and think about the picture you want to take. There's no repeating and trying again. Every photo cost you money, so you really have to be patient and wait for the perfect moment to capture.

3. Improves Your Technical Skills

This one is quite related to the last one since, on the search for the perfect photo, you will have to pay attention to several technical questions. You have to pay attention to light, realize how you want to compose your photo and choose your focus point. Besides that, if you're using a manual camera, you will also have to learn all the settings (something I love doing).

4. No Need To Edit

Sempre que tiro fotografias digitais, passo sempre pelo processo de as editar, com as fotografias em analógico nunca há essa necessidade, what you see is what you get!

Every time I take digital photos, I always have to edit them, but with film photos, there's no need for that, what you see is what you get!

5. The Photos Look Amazing

And last but not least, the photos look great. Film photos are uncomparable. No preset or filter will get you the same colours and vibe as a film photo.

  1. Excelente artigo, Helena!
