Desde que me lembro que a minha mãe é uma grande fã do José Saramago, por isso, como podem imaginar, tenho uma coleção bastante grande de livros deste autor. Peguei neste livro, 'As Pequenas Memórias', um pouco sem saber com o que contar e, para minha grande surpresa, é um livro de memórias. Como sabem, é dos livros que mais gosto de ler, por isso, foi um livro que acabei muito rapidamente. Retrata um período muito específico da sua vida, focando-se na sua infância e ao longo da sua leitura vamos descobrindo vários episódios aleatórios da sua infância. Tal como o próprio disse, "queria que os leitores soubessem de onde saiu o homem que sou" e foi isso mesmo que senti quando acabei este livro. Senti que passei a conhecer este génio um pouco melhor. Mas tenho que ser honesta, apesar de estar escrito de uma forma muito bonita, não é um livro que vos vai fazer apaixonar por José Saramago, diria até que este é um livro apenas para fãs, mas gostei imenso de conhecer a infância deste escritor e da sua perspectiva da mesma.
Since I remember that my mom is a huge fan of José Saramago, so, as you can imagine, I have a huge collection of his books. I grabbed this one, 'As Pequenas Memórias', without knowing what to expect, and, to my surprise, it's a memoir. As you know, that's my favourite kind of book, so I read it very quickly. He shows us how was his life in a very specific moment, focusing on this childhood and, while we read it, we found out very random episodes of this life. As he said, "I wanted the readers to know where the man I am came from" and that's how I felt when I finished this book. I felt I knew this genius on another level. But I have to be honest, even though it's very beautifully written, this book will not make you fall in love with Saramago, I think it's a book fans will love, but it's not for everyone. But I loved knowing more about this childhood and his perfective of it. Highly recommend it.
