As I already told you, after reading Calypso, I bought more books by David Sedaris. I'm still waiting on a few that I've ordered, but I bought the only one that it's translated into Portuguese. So I bought 'When You Are Engulfed in Flames'. Like all the other books by him, it's a collection of essays and the last part is kind of a diary written while he was trying to quit smoking. But my favourite essays are the ones that come before that diary, they are really really funny and go from buying a real skeleton as a gift to his boyfriend to racing on a swimming pool with a woman with Down syndrome. He takes incidents that many people would just move past, and manages to extract the humour in a very honest way. He definitely is a very intelligent, hilarious writer and I can't recommend his books enough. But if you have never read anything by him, I suggest you start by Calypso (you can read my post about it HERE), it's still on the top of my list.
