Fazendo um resumo rápido, este livro é um memoir e retrata a relação da artista com Robert Mapplethorpe e a vida que viveram juntos. Não vos posso dizer quantas vezes já li este livro, porque, sinceramente, já nem eu sei, mas posso-vos dar algumas razões pelas quais 'Apenas Miúdos' é o meu livro favorito.
I already lost count on how many times I've told you that 'Just Kids' by Patti Smith is my favourite book, but since I have now a whole category dedicated to books, why not tell you a bit more about this book that I love so much? To sum up, this book is a memoir documenting her relationship with Robert Mapplethorpe and the life they lived together. I cannot tell you how many times I've read this book because honestly I really don't know, but here are some reasons why 'Just Kids' is my favourite book.
Transports You To New York
Uma das coisas que adoro neste livro é que nos transporta para Nova Iorque no fim dos anos 60 e 70, uma altura em que a arte estava por todo o lado. O Allen Ginsberg compra-lhe uma sandiwsh, passa horas a falar com Janis Joplin e vive no mítico Chelsea Hotel. E toda essa energia é algo que, realmente, se consegue sentir através da sua escrita.
Something I love about this book is that really transports you to New York during the late '60s and '70s, a time where art was everywhere. Allen Ginsberg buys her a sandwich, she spends hours talking to Janis Joplin and lives at the mythic Chelsea Hotel. You can definitely feel this energy through her writing.
You Can Tell She's A Poet
A Patti Smith é conhecida por ser uma grande poetisa e pode ver-se isso neste livro, mas não estou de todo a criticar. Este foi o seu primeiro livro em prosa, mas a sua escrita é maravilhosa em qualquer uma das formas. Mas acho que o facto de ser poetisa, ajuda imenso a descrever todos os detalhes da sua vida e da relação que viveu.
Patti Smith is well known as a poet and you can tell it on this book, but in a good way obviously. This was actually her first book of prose, but her writing is beautiful no matter what. I actually think being a poet really helped her sharing all the details of her life and relationship.
It's A Love Story
Este livro mostra várias facetas da vida de Patti Smith, mas, no final de contas, é uma história de amor. Não acaba bem, mas é uma história de amor lindíssima. Consegue-se mesmo sentir o afeto entre os dois, como inspiraram o trabalhado de cada um e a grande amizade que criaram. Este livro tem algumas das minhas frases favoritas e posso-vos dizer que percebem perfeitamente porque este livro se chama 'Apenas Miúdos'.
This book shows several different sides of Patti Smith's life, but in the end, it's a love story. It doesn't end well, but it's a beautiful love story. You can feel the affection they had, how they inspired each other and the friendship they shared. It has some of my favourite quotes ever and you will totally understand why she named this book 'Just Kids'.
